Timeless Womanhood

This series of images presents a hidden dimension of a young woman, who dresses and acts as a tomboy in her daily life. A passionate rock climber and an avid reader of long books who majors in physics, her classical feminine side is rarely on open display. Wanting to create a photoshoot about timeless femininity that is both relevant today and connects to past photographic traditions, I decided to engage with my model's innate complexity. These photos interrogate the meaning of womanhood and deliberately center inner beauty, rather than generic fashion imagery.

I am an author and documentary photographer working at the crossroads of art and documentary. My visual and written work explores the complexities and inner contradictions that characterize us, human beings. Focusing on similarities, rather than differences which are made to appear as boundaries separating cultures, my work emphasizes the shared nature of responses humans give to circumstances thrown at them by life or by history. I believe in the combined power of art and documentary, and my goal is to unite viewers through topics and themes that describe the human condition.
